i bought this to replace my 2008 24.2 cu ft 42" width built in panel ready refrigerator. Unfortunately, after a month of use; the top drawer is off track and a piece of molding fell off the trim. I'll need to place a service call on Monday 11/27/25. Not happy this new refrigerator needs a service call to fix or replace a drawer that's off track.

Panel Ready really makes the kitchen!

This was a replacement unit. My previous unit was probably damaged during a defrosting mistake. It was a very expensive ice chipping event. The new unit was ordered to keep the kitchen design consistant. The new unit runs much quieter and seems to produce more ice. The drawers are now wider, which allows more things to fit in, but I don't like the "top grab handle" for the upper drawers because if something on the shelf it can block where you fingers need to go to open the drawer. Also, because of the way the doors seal, you can't open the drawers on the right unless both doors are open. I would suggest the next iteration has uneven drawers so one side is wider and the smaller side will be able to open with only one door open.

The fridge is great but the install was a disaster. they did not know how to install the panels which I confirmed with Whirlpool prior. They also refused to adjust the doors. I am still waiting for a work order to be filled and someone to come adjust the doors.

This purchase was of the same model installed in our home in 2006/2007 and we went with it because we have custom wood door panels on the front that could be re-used. Thankfully, the original panels fit the new refrigerator perfectly and generally we are satisfied with the refrigerator and we like the platinum interior. That being said we have a couple of items that are areas for Kitchenaid improvement: 1) The refrigerator makes a loud noise, much louder than the prior unit, as the compressor comes on and off. 2) The vegetable drawers on the right cannot be opened without fully opening the left refrigerator door. Our old unit did not have this issue and it forces me to open both doors anytime I want to get something out of the right hand drawers. There is clearly an opportunity for improvement because if I forget to open the door on the left, and pull out a drawer on the right, it scratches both the drawer and the door. This did not happen with the old design.

Beyond disappointed in this purchase.... Run do not walk away from this refrigerator, unless you like having children's finger pinched in the doors that do not stay open. Don't bother calling support or their safety team because all they will tell you is that it is working as designed. Luckily the ice production is coolness of the unit is excellent (only reason it got 2 stars) so when your child's fingers get pinched in the slamming door you have a way to stop the swelling.

If the right door is closed when the left door closes, the right door will pop open an ~inch. I can't tell you how many times I find the right door slightly open. I brough this open to Kitchen Aid numerous times over the first year. Their response was it has French Doors and this is going to happen. They believe it is normal. I have other brand refrig with French Doors and it does not happen. It's a poor design. The rest of the refrigerator is fine, but the doors are very frustrating.

We have owned our built-in panel ready for approximately 6 years and during that time we have had numerous issues. The first issues revolved around the lights going out and having service come out to troubleshoot the bad light(since they are connected serially one bad light to make them all go off). This was in both Fresh food compartment and in the freezer. On the third occurrence of this they sent out a complete new set of LED lights and that has resolved the issue to date. We also had issues with the ice maker not working and had local service company come out to fix that on a couple of occasions. The one issue that has been happening on and off for years is a water leak inside the Fresh Food compartment where we have water dripping from the top of the refrigerator and gathering pools below the lower drawers. We have been pulling out shelve and drawers to towel up the leaks. Today a service company came out and the technician removed the upper cowling in the fresh food section exposing the fans, condenser, etc. To our surprise we found a blue rubber cap blocking the drain. Since the cowling had never been removed this rubber cap must have been in there since manufacture and that is what was causing the condensation not to drain properly but to leak into the Fresh Food compartment of our refrigerator. Hard to believe the leaking on and off for years was causing by a manufacturing issue. Poor quality control...

i'm disappointed with access to the drawers. You can not access the right drawers unless you have both doors open. It's strange that the drawers on the left (as you are looking into the refridgerator) can open with just the left door open, frustrating that the right drawers hit the left door when opening.

Two Issues

I like the refrigerator particularly given a very good price after 15% Presidents Day discount. I would have rated higher except for two issues. 1) The ice maker has never worked and it has had two extensive service calls with no fix; a third is planned with the service department head person - the service attendant has complained about the difficulty of getting to the ice maker and being able to unfreeze it. If unable to fix, will need to replace unit which is not something we look forward to. 2) Both doors must be opened to use the right hand drawers - my prior older version model had slightly smaller right hand drawers which did not require both doors to open. This is a poor design problem that is very aggravating on a daily basis.

I wish I could give this company a ZERO, they are not deserving even of the 1-star. I am an interior designer and have installed built-in appliances from many brands, but Kitchenaid is the absolute worse to deal with. I spent 3 hours and 15 minutes between being on hold and being shuffled around from person to person in their customer service department and built-in specialty department, NO ONE HERE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING, there is not enough information available in the instructions, and the agents are giving conflicting information and no one will send me an email to be held accountable for their advice. My client spent over $6500 on this refrigerator and I regret everything about it.

I have owned this for approximately 18 months. My complaints (so far) are as follows: Actual Defects The upper left door hinge has repeatedly come lose. Four of the 8 interior lights have stopped working The left butter tray door seal fell out after the first few days Design flaws There is no 'door ajar' alarm, There is only a 'door was obviously left wide open' alarm which waits 5 minutes to go off and is nearly inaudible. This is completely useless. The butter trays have no lip on the edge. The butter slides to the front of the tray when the door closes and falls out the next time you open the tray. The right side vegetable drawers will not pull out unless you open both main doors because the left side main door overlaps the right side drawers by a half inch. The doors have to be opened completely to the end of the stop or they will close and bump you in the back. There is no egg tray The interior tray supports are excessively intrusive. I have a Samsung Refrigerator in the garage that cost 20% as much and works far better. I have called a couple of times to try to get the hinge, seal, and lights fixed but no one calls me back

Interior Lights Out, Not Cooling in only 20 Months

We finished our house in the spring of 2019. I installed this unit new from Home Depot at that time. A couple weeks back, part of the interior LED's stopped working. I have been getting High Temp warnings for the past few days. Had to move all food to outside unit in the garage. Do not recommend this unit.

I LOVE this refrigerator. We did a full kitchen renovation about 8 months ago. I could not be happier with the refrigerator. It has so much room both on the shelves and in the doors! I was a little worried about not having water in the door, but our kitchen faucet is right across from it and we haven™™t missed it at all. The freezer also have so much storage!! Worth every penny!!

We purchased this because the salesman assured us that this would have a seamless connection to our counter tops and cabinets. I am not a builder so I expect when I ask specific questions from the salesman and verify with customer service that The product Described will be the product delivered. We spent over 3k for this false representation and 10k on every single Kichenaid appliance in our new home. our decision to go with this subpar brand was based solely on the confirmation from 2 different representatives that this would be flush with our custom cabinets. Well that is not the case, it is an ugly 4 1/2 inch gap of builder grade black metal. contacted customer service and was sent to a manager and was told basically ™too bad for you, buyers remorse. ™ I will never purchase another item from this horrible excuse for a brand again. Not only are their representatives unknowledgeable, but their managing support is shameful. Stay far away. Luckily we documented all Of our questions from the company directly and purchased an extended warranty from the vendor because the vendor is making it right. Shame on you for your untrained customer service, managing staff, and overall hideous product. All of our household appliances are being returned because I will not support a company that falsely advertises, poorly trains employees, and does not stand behind their product.

This came at a perfect time! We couldn™™t be any happier with this appliance purchase. Kitchenaid is top of the line. This refrigerator is lovely! The French doors open to very roomy interior. The platinum interior is very classy with the LED lighting. The ice machine makes a very good amount of ice in a very short time. Freezer capacity is ample. We give this refrigerator a five star rating.

Ample room inside and very attractive. This was our splurge when we renovated our kitchen. It was worth it!
