A high-end look hiding a very disappointing produc

We bought the CAFÃ Couture Toaster Oven with Air Fry because it was marketed as a high-end appliance. Unfortunately, after less than two years, the only genuinely ™high-end™ feature we™™ve experienced is its appearance. During the one-year warranty period, it worked reasonably well, although there was already a major design flaw: the oven releases a significant amount of steam from the front, which has caused massive brownish discolouration above the door handle on our white unit. We tried every non-abrasive cleaning method we could find, but nothing worked. The result is an ugly, permanently ™smoked™ front that significantly detracts from what was initially a beautiful appliance. Cleaning the interior is another nightmare. The heating elements and panels are essentially inaccessible, making proper cleaning extremely difficult. Even with cleaning after every use, grease and baked-on residue accumulate in areas that are nearly impossible to reach, eventually requiring very strong cleaning products. But all of that pales in comparison with what happened after roughly a year of use: the door stopped closing properly. At first, we could get it to close by giving it a little extra push. Eventually, it stopped closing on its own altogether. We had to place something heavy against the door just to keep the oven closed enough to use it. We contacted technical support and received recommendations that were, frankly, useless. We searched forums and troubleshooting information and even consulted AI, but there was no obvious external damage or anything that explained why the door had suddenly stopped closing. Eventually, we removed the door from its hinges ourselves. That™™s when we discovered what appears to be a truly astonishing design choice: the internal plates that receive and support the door hinges are made of plastic. After being exposed to the heat of the oven while supporting the weight of the door, these plastic components had deteriorated to the point where the door could no longer close properly. For an appliance positioned and priced as a premium product, this is simply unacceptable. We contacted CAFÃ support again and called every available parts provider we could find, hoping to purchase a replacement door or the damaged components. The answer? Replacement parts are apparently not available. The only parts they carry are trays. So we™™re left with an expensive appliance that looks beautiful but, after less than two years, has a discoloured exterior, is extremely difficult to clean, and has a door that no longer functions properly - with no meaningful way to repair it. For the price of this appliance, the build quality, engineering and after-sales support are nowhere near what I would expect from a high-end product. It looks premium. Unfortunately, it doesn™™t seem to be built premium. I would absolutely not recommend this appliance, and I would strongly advise anyone considering it to look beyond the beautiful design and ask how repairable the product actually is once the warranty expires.

I absolutely love the look of the CafÃ Couture Toaster Oven with Air Fry! It™™s larger than I expected, but still fits nicely on my counter. One of my favorite features is that the exterior doesn™™t get hot while it™™s in use. I™™ve used the bake, air fry, and dehydrate settings, and they™™ve all worked really well. I also love the WiFi option™"it™™s such a convenient feature! Overall, I™™m really happy with it and love having it in my kitchen.

It works but the design is frustrating. Sliding your toast out over horizontal grill slats (vice vertical, which would make more sense) is like pulling it over several speed bumps that sheer crumbs off your toast and drop them into the catch tray. Then, after finished toasting, for some reason the motor keeps running after it is finished. Changing functions with the dial is a blind ™find the setting™ approach. The display screen doesn™™t show you the options. You have to turn and turn until you see it pop up on the display screen. Annoying. The toaster oven is quite tall. Couldn™™t it be a little more compact? Overall, it works, but is clunky and poorly designed.

I don't have it yet. I have a couple of questions: 1. Does it boil water? (Not kidding) 2. Why: "Keep at least 4™ (10 cm) clearance on all sides of the oven whenever oven is in operation."? A countertop appliance will not usually be placed 4" above the counter. Other seller sites carrying CafÃ do not specify this. By the way I have a CafÃ stove, refrigerator, and toaster. You should make plain microwave for the counter.

We bought this oven a couple years ago at a charity auction at an appliance dealership. It was brand new. We loved it so much that we purchased two more as gifts for our kids. But over a period of months, we noticed that the door had to be taped close to get the oven to work. Without taping it closed it would pop open and turn off. Now that happens all the time. The oven is useless at this point. This is a recurring problem that many people are having, just check the reviews on Amazon, Google and right here on the GE CafÃ Website. If you have a choice buy a different brand. I™™m really sorry to have to leave this bad review because we really really liked this oven.

After approximately 16 months of use my countertop oven suddenly stopped working. The until no longer turns on at all. No lights no buttons no warning. Do not spend your money on this overpriced garbage! For a $500 toaster oven there should be some quality control but customer service very quickly told me that the one year warranty had expired and there was nothing they would do to help fix the oven. Please take my advice and do not purchase! I also want to note that the finish on the white model began staining immediately and rubbed off entirely when I tried to use a solvent to clean off the yellowing. So it only looks good for about a month. These companies are tripping.

Faulty Door and Bad Design

I purchased two of these units, and both are experiencing the same issue: the door does not fully close on its own after one year of ownership. As a result, it does not engage the safety switch, and the air fryer will not operate unless the door is manually pushed closed. This appears to be a common issue, which is very disappointing for a premium-brand product. Based on this experience, I will definitely avoid CafÃ products in the future.

Cosmetics: The Cafe logo fell partially off within a month. It is a cheap vinyl sticker. The front of the air fryer has yellowed, making it look cheap and dirty. Functionality: The air frying option does not work well. Food is rarely crispy unless previously deep fried. Foods that would regularly crisp up in my old Ninja do not in this air fryer. Support: GE has the worst product support I have ever worked with. I have been transferred at least 8 times and that is being conservative. The people that answer the phones are no helpful at all. Hard pass. Buy something cheaper. I can guarantee it will be better quality.

This is our second Cafe Couture Oven. We thoroughly enjoyed the oven but after 14 months it died just two months past the one year warranty. Hopefully the replacement oven last longer. We used the oven several times a week mostly the air fry and bake modes. It matches our white Cafe refrigerator and microwave.

Super Disappointed in My Cafe Toaster Oven

Very excited when my Cafe Toaster Oven with Air Fry arrived, however the excitement quickly waned as I began using it. After only a few standard 400 degree (or less) baking events at 20 minutes (or less) each, the heat from the oven started MELTING the paint on our wall- Note the toaster oven was placed with more than enough sufficient spacing (at least 5-6™) from the wall. Also note, our previous toaster oven was a Breville, located in the same spot and we NEVER had issues with paint melt. Scary AND concerning. I™™ve since moved the oven at least 10 inches from the wall. Our next major issue is the oven door- It no longer closes securely/tightly and will actually sometimes open slightly on it™™s own. Obviously an open oven door interrupts cooking, especially when you do not realize the door has opened. The door has also been known to open when the oven is off, causing the interior lights and cooking panel to come on, this too is alarming. I™™ve started unplugging the appliance when not is use. I have used this small appliance for LESS THAN A MONTH. None of this should be happening. Hopefully a Cafe/GE employee will read this review and reach out for assistance/replacement.

I also have the Cuisinart table top oven and I could write a positive review for that one as well, but this one surpasses that one with the level of computer controls that it provides for the cooking cycle. There is less chance of burning things and it does a very gentle toasting of cheese/ham sandwiches. The butter browns perfectly. I also cooked some steaks to medium rare and they came out perfectly. One word of advice is to be sure to put water in the tray underneath or smoke will escape and trigger your smoke alarms. I also have the Cafe induction stove with two ovens and they accompany each other very well.

After years of different stove, top ovens, we decided to invest in the GE couture Oven and we will never go back to another oven! We™™ve been using the oven now for one year. It looks brand new! The handles are still the same shiny metal that they were in the beginning and the oven is white exterior is still bright white. The glass door is unscratched and we use it every single day! We use every cook mode. We™™ve baked, and baked the same as our Thermidor oven, we toast in the toaster every day, and it has amazing capacity and perfect toasting, and we use the air fryer all the time If you™™re looking to cut down on the amount of appliances that you™™re in your kitchen and replace them all with one that looks beautiful and works perfectly. I would definitely suggest this stove top oven. Our son who™™s in his 20s and doesn™™t think too much about stove top ovens loves it so much that he asked for one! It™™s worth every penny! We liked it so much that we went ahead and got the matching coffee maker and the matching espresso machine. With white marble countertops, white cabinets, and walnut accents and with our hardware that matches the GE hardware, it provides a seamless beautiful look for our kitchen. Beautiful toaster oven when it was new. Purchased in May 2025 and didn't start using it until June, after our kitchen remodel was complete. It's only been 2 months and already the front/outside is discolored by heat use and nothing I have tried will clean it -- it's baked in. Very disappointed and it looks like the warranty doesn't cover cosmetic issues. Tried to upload a picture but not able to include it.

1st day. Pizza almost got burnt.

Connecting to wifi or the app was too confusing and a lot of steps to jump through just to get it done. It could have been more efficient if they have a QR code in the front to connect to WIfi and help through with the process and then you can remove the QR code after registering. Cooked our first pizza last night and it almost got burned using the default settings. Will be learning on how to use this device properly and excited on what I can cook or bake in it.

White oven TURNED YELLOW and BAD customer service

I purchased the entire line of white cafe appliances for a new kitchen in 2024 including refrigerator, dual fuel range, microwave, beverage center, dishwasher, 2 slice toaster and this oven. Spent well over $20,000! This oven is now YELLOW on the front around the oven door. I can spend an hour cleaning and it will do it again with ONE use. Photos are after one use. I purchased over a year ago, but held it until kitchen remodel was complete so no longer under warranty although actual use is under 1 year. Customer Svc gives me the "canned" answer that it is outside of warranty basically stating GE is not willing to help. There is no consideration at the amount of money I spent with them. Others have reported this same problem. The heat is clearly escaping from the door. No way to adjust the door to try to get it to seal so the heat doesn't escape and ruin the outside. Should be a recall. Instead my GE "case" gets an email from KIM that basically says sorry about your luck! (paraphrased). I hear from the response, "We have your money and could care less now!". Horrible. I will replace this eye sore with something else and pray my 36" dual fuel range doesn't do the same. Not as easy to replace! The toaster oven operates fine so maybe a color other than white? Not sure if the escaping heat would discolor those. I do not recommend this product. GE needs to acknowledge the design flaw or at a minimum work with a customer on a improperly working appliance that costs under $500 (which is a lot of money), but not anywhere near the total I spent overall. TUNNEL VISION and CANNED ANSWERS = BAD SERVICE!

Its only been a couple days, but it seems to heat quickly and cook well. It has an internal light which is nice for a countertop oven. It's pretty big and takes up some counter space, but overall a nice product. The matte white looks nice as well.

Nice crisp cooking, however after first use in roast mode 400F 25 min, the front of oven turned yellow,I assume from the heat that escape from the top of the door. And the door does not seems to be sealed well when cooing. Not sure if it is normal or it is defect in my oven, but it should be this agly yellow after first use. The picture does't reflect the true yellow color I have onit,but it is noticible.

My daughter bought me this countertop air fryer/oven in December of 2022. I love using it, but in this past year I've noticed that it occasionally turns on by itself. I called customer service and found out it only has a one year warranty and cannot be repaired, so there is nothing I can do. It's very disappointing to me considering the price point. I'm worried about it starting a fire.

I have never written a negative review. I received The couture oven as a gift the end of April in 2023. We had recently redid our kitchen in 2022 and used all of the cafÃ appliances. The following year we added all of the cafÃ countertop appliances, including the oven. It was not purchased with the intent of solely using it for baking or cooking in it, however it was used for heating Pizza leftovers or to air fry. While it worked beautifully during that time, it was not used heavily at all. Went to heat something up last week and the machine just stopped working, checked all of our avenues, including the outlet™™s, if we tripped a fuse, but nothing. I contacted GE only to get nowhere. A $500 countertop appliance that lasted 1 1/2 years cannot be repaired and they will do nothing to make things right. The oven is only a little over a year and a half, and I have no recourse. I was told by an associate that I should have purchased the extended warranty (wow, they put a lot of faith in their product)!!! So very very disappointed!!

Love this toaster oven. Plenty big to fit larger size items. Cooks pizzas to perfection. It is definitely my go to oven on summer days when I do not want to heat up my kitchen turning on my range oven. Cooks casseroles in record time. Love all the preset cooking options.

Set up was simple. Plastic knobs, thin metal and plastic housing, makes the entire appliance feel cheap. The price of the product seems to be justified by the supposed coordination with their line of white Cafe appliances.

I am so glad I purchased this appliance! If you are debating on buying one you definitely need to just purchase it. Food cooked on the Air Fry setting alone has been a game changer at our house. I highly recommend it!!
